The CloSys website’s FAQ page states that the product sometimes alters the user’s sense of taste— making water taste different.
I have to say this has helped my canker sores and my infection much better then gargling with salt water and not so invasive.
I found the same issue. Water tastes different.
This product caused a significant change in the way foods and even plain water tastes for 5 days after using it even once. I tested this after giving the effect time to clear and was verified on a second trial. This was enough to stop me from using the product but that doesn’t mean it will for many others.

As you say, we are all different but taste loss can happen after using any mouthwash, not just CloSYS. It’s sad to hear it was such a long lasting result in your case, hope things are back to normal now.
I agree with Jeff. Just gave it another try last night after waiting 4 weeks. Today my water tastes like metal and my tongue feels almost numb. Same reactors the 1st try. I can. It use a tarter control toothpaste either so guess I just have a super sensitive mouth.
Yes, it appears to affect each of us differently. I find it does not have any taste effect for me. Definitely the best rinse I have ever used.

Hi Greg, I have white tongue, cant get it to go away. After reading about this product I am sure afraid to try it as I have no taste anymore. Not sure if its for me. Tried it once with no flavoring. Just nasty taste in my mouth
White tongue is usually associated with candida yeast overgrowth I would recommend doing a comprehensive stool pathology analysis\

I like this mouthwash as it helps with my dry mouth. But it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth and changes the taste of my foods and water. Not sure why…

Why is there sucralose in the mint formula?
I used it for weeks..it bleached my gums – turned them white, and my mouth burned for weeks after I stopped using it. This cannot be healthy to use!
I love the Clo Sys unflavored gentle mouthwash. I am on Chemo pills and suffer from mouth sores from time to time. I rinse every night as a preventive. But when get a mouth sore (especially on my tongue which is most painful that I can’t talk very well or eat) I rinse 2-3 times a day. The sore becomes short duration unlike before I started using this mouthwash. I like the little bottle of mint flavoring enclosed. You can put in as much as you want. Great idea!!!! The mouthwash is gentle and does not sting.
I use the CloSys Ultra Sensitive mouthwash daily. I rinse for 45 seconds & avoid food/drink afterwards for 30 minutes. CloSys was recommended by my Dentist and I have been using it for approx. a year now. I mix the entire container of mint flavoring in my bottle & it tastes great. My sense of taste has not been affected one bit since using CloSys. I brush twice a day & rinse with CloSys twice a day. I don’t care what it costs – I love it that much & will continue to use it from now on. *FYI, CloSys does include coupons sometimes in their boxes.
After using CloSYS I felt nauseated for 16 hours. It felt as thou my posterior throat had produced a low level of mucous. Naturally I did not attribute this symptom to CloSYS but the second time I used it a week later the exact same symptom returned. Has anyone else noticed a similar symptom?
